FAQ — ECO Fuel Systems | Diesel Emissions, DPF & Fuel Savings Questions

Question 1

What is the ECO Fuel System and what does it do?

Accepted Answer

The ECO Fuel System is a patented, CARB-approved fuel enhancement device that installs in-line on any diesel, gasoline, or alternative-fuel engine. It uses a proprietary blend of rare earth elements to restructure fuel molecules before combustion, producing a more complete burn. The result is measurably better fuel economy, significantly reduced emissions (particulates, NOx, CO, hydrocarbons), and fewer DPF regeneration cycles — without adding chemicals to the fuel or requiring any engine modifications.

Question 2

How does the ECO Fuel System reduce DPF regenerations?

Accepted Answer

DPF regens are triggered when soot accumulates in the diesel particulate filter faster than passive regeneration can clear it. The ECO Fuel System achieves a more complete combustion of fuel, which means dramatically less unburned carbon (soot) enters the exhaust stream in the first place. Fleet operators consistently report a 50–70% reduction in active DPF regen cycles after installation. Fewer regens mean less fuel burned during regen, less heat stress on the DPF, and significantly extended DPF service life.

Question 3

How can I reduce diesel emissions without replacing my engine or adding chemicals?

Accepted Answer

The ECO Fuel System is the only CARB-approved, chemical-free solution that reduces diesel emissions at the source — combustion itself. By improving the completeness of the burn, it reduces particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbons by up to 70% without any fuel additives, engine modifications, or new aftertreatment hardware. It installs in about 30 minutes and works on engines from 2000 to present.

Question 4

What fuel types does the ECO Fuel System work with?

Accepted Answer

The ECO Fuel System works with all fossil fuels and alternative fuels: diesel (including ultra-low sulfur diesel), gasoline, biodiesel blends, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and propane. It is effective on any internal combustion engine — on-road trucks, off-road equipment, marine vessels, gas boilers, and stationary generators.

Question 5

Is the ECO Fuel System CARB approved?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The ECO Fuel System holds California Air Resources Board (CARB) approval, one of the most rigorous emissions certification standards in the world. CARB approval means the device has been independently verified to reduce harmful emissions and does not negatively impact engine performance or emissions control systems. It is also recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities program and has received multiple government awards for emissions reduction.

Question 6

How much can the ECO Fuel System reduce emissions?

Accepted Answer

Independent government and third-party tests show reductions of up to 70% in particulate matter (PM/soot), up to 60% in carbon monoxide (CO), and significant reductions in hydrocarbons and NOx. Real-world fleet deployments in the U.S., Malawi, Indonesia, and Delhi have confirmed these results across diverse engine types and duty cycles. Full test results and research documentation are available on our Research & Tests page.

Question 7

Do I still need to clean my DPF if I use the ECO Fuel System?

Accepted Answer

You will still need periodic DPF maintenance, but far less frequently. Because the ECO Fuel System dramatically reduces soot output, DPFs stay cleaner longer. Many fleets report extending DPF cleaning intervals by 2–3x. For DPFs that are already heavily clogged, we recommend Cobra Clean — our biodegradable DPF cleaning solution — before or alongside ECO Fuel System installation to restore full filter performance.

Question 8

Can the ECO Fuel System help my fleet meet emissions compliance requirements?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The ECO Fuel System is used by city and county government fleets, school districts, transit agencies, and federal agencies specifically to meet or exceed EPA and state emissions mandates without the cost of fleet replacement. Its CARB approval and U.S. Department of Commerce recognition make it a credible compliance tool for sustainability reporting, grant applications, and regulatory audits.

Question 9

How much fuel savings can I expect?

Accepted Answer

Documented fuel savings range from 7% to 19% depending on engine type, duty cycle, and driving conditions. Long-haul trucking fleets typically see 10–15% improvement in miles per gallon. At current diesel prices, a single Class 8 truck burning 20,000 gallons per year can save $3,000–$6,000 annually. For a fleet of 50 trucks, that is $150,000–$300,000 per year in fuel savings alone — before accounting for reduced DPF maintenance, fewer regens, and extended engine life.

Question 10

How quickly does the ECO Fuel System pay for itself?

Accepted Answer

Most fleet operators see full return on investment within 3–6 months based on fuel savings alone. When you factor in reduced DPF cleaning costs, fewer active regen cycles (which burn extra fuel), and extended engine and aftertreatment component life, the payback period is often even shorter. The ECO Fuel System is rated for 20+ years of service life, so the ongoing savings compound significantly over time.

Question 11

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ECO Fuel Systems offers a 90-day money-back guarantee. If you do not see measurable fuel savings and emissions improvements within 90 days of installation, we will refund your purchase. We also back the product with a 5-year limited warranty, and the device is built to last 20+ years. We are the sole-source, patented manufacturer — there is no aftermarket substitute.

Question 12

Will installing the ECO Fuel System void my OEM engine warranty?

Accepted Answer

No. The ECO Fuel System is protected under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which prohibits OEM manufacturers from voiding your warranty simply because you installed an aftermarket device — unless they can prove the device caused the specific failure being claimed. The ECO Fuel System adds no chemicals to the fuel, makes no modifications to the engine, and has been tested and approved by CARB. It is compatible with all major OEM engines including Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Volvo, International, and Caterpillar.

Question 13

Is the ECO Fuel System compatible with my engine brand?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The ECO Fuel System is compatible with all major diesel engine OEMs: Cummins, Detroit Diesel, PACCAR (MX), Volvo, International (Navistar), Caterpillar, John Deere, Perkins, and more. It works on engines from model year 2000 to present, including engines with modern emissions aftertreatment systems (DPF, SCR, EGR). A sizing guide is available on our Products & Pricing page to match the correct ECO model to your engine displacement and fuel flow rate.

Question 14

Is ECO Fuel Systems the only manufacturer of this device?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ECO Fuel Systems holds the sole-source patent on this technology. There are no licensed manufacturers, no authorized resellers producing the device, and no legitimate aftermarket alternatives. If you encounter a product claiming to be equivalent, it is not. Our patent covers the rare earth element formulation and the in-line installation method. Purchasing directly from ECO Fuel Systems is the only way to get the genuine, CARB-approved device.

Question 15

How is the ECO Fuel System installed?
